Abibakr As-Sidiq Philanthropic Home Concludes 21 Solar-Powered Boreholes Project Across Six Nigerian States

Borehole SiteAbibakr As-Sidiq Philanthropic Home (ASPH), in partnership with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), is proud to announce the successful completion of 21 solar-powered borehole facilities across Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, Osun, Oyo, and Enugu States.

This milestone project, which commenced in October 2024 and concluded in May 2025, has provided safe, clean, and sustainable water access to over 105,000 direct beneficiaries in underserved and remote communities. Each borehole facility is fully equipped with:

  • Grundfos solar-powered submersible pumps

  • Elevated twin 2,500L tank stanchions

  • Six-tap fetching points

  • Animal drinking troughs

  • Drainage systems and solar security lights

  • 5x5m perimeter fencing for protection and sanitation

“This project is a testament to the power of collaboration between global humanitarian actors and grassroots organizations. Clean water should not be a privilege—it is a basic human right,” said Mr. Farid Salman, Chief Operating Officer of ASPH and Project Manager.

In each location, community engagement was central to implementation. Residents were trained on basic maintenance, hygiene awareness, and borehole sustainability practices. The project also adhered to WHO water quality standards, with testing conducted by certified laboratories and verified by the Monitoring & Evaluation team.

From the Fulani settlements in Ruga Fulani (Abuja) to the farming communities of Ogbomosho (Oyo State), and the rural heartlands of  Kano State, the impact of this project is already transforming lives—reducing waterborne diseases, improving sanitation, and promoting health and dignity.

ASPH extends deep appreciation to KSrelief for their generous funding and humanitarian vision. We also thank our field officers, engineers, local leaders, and the resilient communities who welcomed and protected this effort.

As we continue our mission to build resilient communities through offering clean access to water, we invite partners, donors, and the public to follow our work at www.abibakrhome.org.
